Xiaomi has expanded its Redmi series by launching the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A smartphones in China. The new phones gain several improvements over their predecessors in terms of appearance, camera, and more.
Helio A22 Processor
Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A both support the HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Redmi 6A looks similar to the Redmi 6 in design but it carries slightly downgraded hardware. Both the phones have a 5.45-inch display but the Redmi 6 is powered by the Helio P22 and the Redmi 6A gets its power from the Helio A22 processor. Both of them feature the metal body and the fingerprint scanner is mounted on the back. They both are preloaded with Android 8.1 Oreo, but the exact version of MIUI was not confirmed at its launch.

MediaTek Helio A22 pairs four ARM Cortex-A53's operating up to a super-fast 2.0GHz with an IMG PowerVR GE-class GPU, and either high-speed LPDDR4x memory or cost-efficient LPDDR3. CPU performance is up to 30% faster and GPU up to an incredible 72% faster than the direct alternative.
The Helio P22 processor based on 12nm process clocks at 2.0GHz in Redmi 6. The power consumption of the processor is reduced which is a good thing to note. Compared to Redmi 6A, the Redmi 6 has 3GB RAM coupled with 32GB and 64GB storage options. Also, Redmi 6 has dual rear cameras with 12MP primary sensor and 5MP accompanying it. The Redmi 6 is also claimed to have AI-based capabilities powering its camera, Face Unlock sensor, and other aspects of the handset like the Xiao Ai assistant.
